This video was made by me and a friend from my class and the story developed from a guy,who takes mushrooms and sees strange things, to a typical love story as you can all see. But I hope you will enjoy it as much as we did, when we were making pictures, watching movies and listening to music :)

have fun!

What is the first thing that comes to  your mind when you think of Twitter? I personally didn’t have any idea what Twitter was about, untill I had to write an article for it. And after I researched it a bit I start to wonder if this social network is really a useful way of communicating with people or is it just a hype?

Basically Twitter is a micro-blogging  service that enables its users to send and read messages known as tweets. These messages are really short and give a glance at what people are doing in their everyday life. The whole site is aiming to give people an opportunity to share all the little things that happen to them every day.

But I personally think that Twitter is  just another social network  like Facebook, Hyves or Myspace.  All these networks have the same main idea- sharing personal information, no matter if it is in pictures or written. Therefore Twitter doesn’t make a difference.  This site is developed in 2006 and still isn’t established that good on the internet. According to research on the past year, Facebook and Myspace have way more visitors than Twitter does:

That means that the popularity of the site isn’t that good. However, when you come to think of it, isn’t it all about popularity, ratings and advertising nowadays? So I think it is still a mystery if Twitter will overcome the hype and establish as a respected social network online.

Even though it does have something to do with the biggest river in the world, because it is named after it, Amazon is a lot more than that. Founded in 1994 by Jeff Bezos and based in Seattle, Washington, it is now one of the biggest online bookstores in the world.

Since year 2000 the logo of the company is an arrow going from A to Z, representing the customers satisfaction (as the arrow forms a smile) and the urge to have every product from the alphabet.

I personally know Amazon mostly as an online shop for books. When visiting the site and searching for a book people can also read reviews of books and decide whether to buy them or not. Sometimes these reviews really help. However there was a case a few years ago when some error occurred and  the names  of anonymous users, who posted some kind of review, were revealed. A lot of them turned out to be the actual authors of the books, who were practically boosting their sales by voting and making comments about their own books. Now how silly is that?

Nevertheless, Amazon has steadily branched into retail sales of  CDs, DVDs, software, videotapes, kitchen items, jewelery, lawn and garden items, toys & games, consumer electronics and much more. The domain amazon.com attracted at least 615 million visitors annually by 2008, which if you come to think of it is a huge number…

Basically, Facebook is a global social networking website, owned by Facebook Inc. and is one of the many similar networks that exist nowadays.Even though some might think there is nothing special about it, there are actually a lot of features that Facebook offers to the public.

First of all making a profile there enables people to share a lot of information about themselves, like what hobbies they have, what kind of books they read etc. They could also find some friends on the network, add them to their friends list and talk to them either by sending  a message, or by posting something on their wall. The posts could also contain a song or a video.

Another very nice feature of Facebook is the sharing of photos which every person is able to do. To give you an example: I usually upload some photos and videos on my profile, because in that way all my friends could see what I have done the last weekend and they could experience everything along with me, even though we are 2000 km apart.

Facebook has become an indispensable way to find old friends, schedule events, play games and even send virtual gifts. However, if you’re doing more living online than off, it might be time to reassess. At one point you could get addicted to all the notifications and invites and the only way to get rid of this addiction is by realizing what triggers you to browse there . Too much free time? No friends? It’s a different case for the different people.

What about you? How much time do you spend online?

There are about one billion bicycles in the whole world, which is almost twice the number of cars and strange or not, almost half these bikes are in China.

The first bicycle-type vehicle was invented by the the Frenchman De Sivrac  in 1690. It was referred to as a hobbyhorse. However, it did not have any pedals. Those were added in 1840 by a Scottish blacksmith, Macmillan, who is credited with inventing the real bicycle.

It was really hard to get around with those bikes, because one pedal gave the wheel only one turn and it wasn’t till later on that gears were added and bicycles could move with the speed of a car. In their appearance, bikes  haven’t changed a lot.The bicycle as we know it today – with two wheels of the same size – looks almost exactly the same as one from 1900. Still they are a really popular means of travel, especially in the Netherlands.

Some people ride them for fun, others use them to go to work or school and some also go on cycling competitions. In 1985 John Howard,a real professional cyclist broke the world speed record on a bicycle, riding with 245 km/h.

And why do you use a bike?

I personally bought one a week ago, because I live in the Netherlands for almost 2 months and it was a pity that I still didn’t have one.

Well,Yeah, I fell a few times and now have bruises on my legs, but still I think that bikes are really useful. You are independent of the public transport, you exercise yourself aaaaand breath fresh air while riding :)

So see, bikes are really, really cool and I hope I master riding them  soon :D

Untill then I can just enjoy this song :)
